CRUDE OIL
Lightweight
LIGHT CRUDE, is crude oil with low wax content, with an API gravity greater than 31.1 degrees, contains a high concentration of low molecular weight hydrocarbons, is very easy to transport and is sought after to obtain fuel such as diesel, kerosene and gasoline.
Medium
MEDIUM CRUDE is one that has an API degree between 22.3 and 31.1 degrees, contains a medium concentration of low molecular weight hydrocarbons, which makes it easy to transport. This type of oil is sought to obtain fuel and raw materials for polymers and paraffins.
Heavy
HEAVY CRUDE with an API degree between 10 and 22.3 degrees, contains a high concentration of hydrocarbons of medium molecular weight that makes it difficult to transport. It is sought to obtain the greatest amount of paraffins, polymers, oils and fuels,
extra heavy
EXTRA-HEAVY CRUDE CRUDE with an API equal to or less than 10.0 contains less concentration of hydrocarbons, higher molecular weight and is more difficult to transport. This type of oil is sought to obtain oils, paraffins, polymers and bitumens. Venezuela has the largest reserves of this crude in the world.

GAS
